Tufted comforter set – So you’ve taken the dive and bought that beautiful and expensive Amish quilt you’ve always wanted. Amish fabrics are beautiful pieces of art that represent thousands of hours of hand quilting and an artistic vision. A true Amish quilt can cost anywhere from $ 700 to thousands of dollars. As such, you will need to protect your investment by properly cleaning your Amish comforter. Cleaning a stain from the bedspread can be more difficult and may require the attention of an expert. However, there are some steps you can take to try to get it out of the house first
Set the washing machine cold and for as long a cycle as possible. This will ensure that your tufted comforter set has plenty of room to move in the washing machine to ensure thorough cleaning. If the machine is too small to properly wash the bedspread, you may want to consider taking it to a laundry room to use an industrial size machine. Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of salt along with a regular measure of liquid detergent of joy. This blend will help preserve the rich colors in your duvet. Set the machine on the soft wash cycle.
Hang the tufted comforter set to dry on a hot, windy day. Consider the type of stain it is. Extraction of different types of stains requires different methods. There are grease-based stains, wax stains, ink stains and food or protein stains, among others. For grease stains, you will need to use a cleaner like Oxi clean to remove the stain. This will break down the fat and make it easier to remove. Follow the instructions carefully. For wax or stain remover, scrape as much wax away as possible. Then place a sheet of brown paper or paper bag material over the stain and iron over it with a hot iron (but not too hot!). Then treat the remaining stain as you would with a grease stain. For food or protein stains, wash as you normally would in cold water, only. You may have to repeat the wash several times, without drying in the middle, to remove the stain.
